The assets of our school

- Founded in 1995, the Lycée Français de Toronto is a young school of modest size, 350 students in 2007-2008; nevertheless, it offers the full range of grades in the French educational system, from pre-school to the Baccalaureate, and enriches it with an in-depth knowledge of Canadian history, geography and economy.

- French citizens can apply for scholarships when registering children from Kindergarten to grade 10, the scholarships being granted according to the level of the parents’ income. Furthermore, for French families living in Canada, they benefit from total refunds of the tuition fees when registering their children in grades 11 12.

- Since 2000, the year in which the first graduating class took the French Baccalaureate examinations, our students’ results have been excellent, averaging 75% passing the exam with distinction. JPEG

- After their years at the LFT, some students from anglophone families pursue their post-secondary education in French, and some francophone students choose to study in English-speaking universities, a clear indication that they have managed to achieve a genuinely bilingual level by the end of their studies at the Lycée. Furthermore, a large proportion of the graduates study in some of the most competitive universities in Canada (University of Toronto, McGill, HEC Montréal), the United States, and Europe.

- Interested students in their graduating years (grades 1112) may prepare for and take Advanced Placement tests in "English Literature and Composition", which will enable them to already have credits if enrolled in English-speaking universities.

-  Excellence in language instruction is one of their priorities, beginning in pre-school. This is why all the students are offered extensive hours of English language study, from pre-school to grade 12, continuing the emphasis on academic excellence. We offer classes in Mandarin and Spanish starting grade 1 as an extra-curricular activity. In addition, Spanish as second language is part of our curriculum starting in grade 6 along with German, and Mandarin as third language, starting in grade 9.At the LFT, class sizes are limited in order to promote better student / teacher interaction, and to guarantee greater individualized attention. - The Lycée Français de Toronto is mandated by the French Ministry of Education and therefore evolves with developments and changes in the French educational system, in accordance with the accreditation requirements of the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger; hence a large proportion of their teachers being qualified by the French Board of Education.
