As Michael Haneke’s Palme d’Or, Best Foreign-Language Film Golden Globe-winning and running for two Oscars, Amour is screened, TIFF Bell Lightbox pays a tribute to the remarkable career of the two protagonists starring in the film, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva, through the retrospective A man and a woman from January 11 to February 24, 2013. The film is nominated for the Best Film Award at the Oscars and Emmanuelle Riva will run for the Best Actress Award.

Icons of the Nouvelle Vague, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva, have played for the greatest film-makers: Alain Resnais, Eric Rohmer, François Truffaut, Bernardo Bertolucci, Claude Chabrol, Costa-Gavras…

Some major films will be screened at this retrospective which is a travel through forty years of cinema around the career of these two French stars, who have inspired directors since the 1960’s.
