Fête de la Musique – June 21, 2013
The Alliance Française de Toronto organizes the 8th edition of la Fête de la Musique. This year, the bands will play on Friday, June 21 between 5:30 to 8:30 PM at the Mel Lastman Square at North York Centre.
La Fête de la Musique, also known as Make Music and World Music Day, is a free musical celebration that takes place each year on June 21 – the first day of summer – in communities around the world.
Since 1982, the idea has spread to more than 110 countries and 460 cities including New York, Rio de Janeiro, Montreal, Marrakech, Havana, Mexico, Berlin, Madrid, Rome, London, Jerusalem, Moscow, Beijing, Bombay and Toronto. On this day, concerts take place in public outdoor spaces and are free to attend, sign-up and perform. All musicians, both amateur and professional, have the opportunity to celebrate their music as all musical styles are welcome and everyone is invited to attend.
