67th edition of Festival d’Avignon – July 5-25, 2013
From July 5 to 26, 2013, the “City of Popes” welcomes theatre lovers for the 67th edition of Festival d’Avignon.
Created in 1947 thanks to the comedian and stage Director, Jean Villard, the Festival d’Avignon is the most emblematic and leading theatre event in the world. Nearly 3,500 performing art professionals present or attend more than 300 French and foreign representations. Meanwhile, the Off festival hosts more than 1,000 companies that produce themselves in their own initiative in a hundred places.
This year organizers of the Festival have chosen Dieudonné Niangouna and Stanislas Nordey to present the festival. From different backgrounds, the two stage Directors and comedians, worked together to build a program directed towards the youth and the future.
One highlight of the 67th edition is the inauguration of the FabricA, a rehearsal space and residence in Avignon. Long desired by the organizers of the Festival, this space will accommodate teams invited by the Festival to repeat their creations.
