Screening of « Check Check Poto » by Julia Varga – November 15, 2013 [fr]
Co-presented by Elegoa Cultural Productions Julia Varga’s documentary « Check Check Poto » will be screened for the first time in Canada on Friday, November 15 at 9pm as part of the Regent Park Film Festival. Julia Varga was in residence in Toronto last march, invited by Elegoa as part of the Paris-Toronto series
In the northeastern suburbs of Paris, Aubervilliers’ Mosaic Centre is a safe space for a diverse group of young people aged 12 to 17 to chat, have a nap, a snack or meet with their friends. Taking place entirely within the centre, director Julia Varga’s “Check Check Poto” provides compelling and fascinating glimpses into the lives of the youth. The film won the award for Best Documentary, Competition Europe/Sibiu Festival (Romania).
Catherine Sicot (Elegoa Cultural Productions) will introduce the film as well as Varga’s new project in developpement in the Toronto GTA as part of “Burbs to Banlieues”, a residency programme commissioned by Elegoa and presented as part of the Paris-Toronto series.
