“Le joli mai”, winner of Best First Work at the 1963 Venice Film Festival, is the first feature by iconic French filmmaker Chris Marker and award-winning cinematographer Pierre Lhomme. Made in 1962, the recently restored film chronicles a turning point in French history - it was filmed just after the March ceasefire between France and Algeria -, capturing the lives of Parisians and showcasing the social and political issues of that time.

Screening on Saturday, November 30 at 2:45 PM and Tuesday, December 3 at 6:00 PM at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema.
