Official visit by Ms. Hélène Conway-Mouret [fr]
Ms. Hélène Conway-Mouret, Minister Delegate for French Nationals Abroad attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conducted an official visit to Canada February 2–9, 2014. This visit included stops in Ottawa (February 2–4), Toronto (February 4–5), Quebec City (February 5–6), and Montreal (February 6–9).
This was Ms. Conway-Mouret’s first visit to Toronto as Minister Delegate for French Nationals Abroad attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She took this occasion to meet with the French community, which comprises more than 5,000 people in Toronto and more than 10,000 in Ontario.
Ms. Conway-Mouret reiterated France’s support for French companies abroad by meeting with representatives of the French business community. She also discussed issues related to international mobility with young French expatriates—International Volunteers, SWAP students, and researchers—in Ontario.
Visits were also organized to the Lycée Français de Toronto, which, as of 2013–2014, has 445 students between the maternelle (kindergarten) and terminale (grade 12) levels, where she met with students and staff. The minister also visited the RDÉE Ontario, the Consulate General’s partner on issues related to the employability of French citizens in Ontario.
Bilateral meetings were also an important aspect of this official visit, so as to give new momentum to the relationship that unites France and Ontario.
