The Consulate General honors two veterans in Guelph [fr]

M. Taylor and M. Sutherland were decorated with the Legion of Honour in Guelph, on February 17

Frank Taylor and Donald Sutherland were both presented with the rank of Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour in a morning ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion.

"It is the highest honour France can give a civilian or military. It is equivalent to the Order of Canada," said Consul General Marc Trouyet, who pinned the white medals on the men’s chests beside their other military honours.

Taylor serviced in the army during World War II while Sutherland was a member of the air force. Both took part in the D Day and the subsequent battle of Normandy that liberated France from German control and eventually led to the Allied victory in World War II.
