The Consulate was represented in several events in both cities on April 9
April 9th 2017 marked the centenary of the battle of Vimy Ridge, a key moment in the foundation of the Canadian nation. Over 20.000 people attended the official ceremonies at the Vimy Memorial in Hauts-de-France Region.
On April 9th at 11.00am: commemorative ceremony at the monument to all wars. The Consul General gave a speech and laid a wreath.
On April 9th afternoon: commemorative ceremony at Fort York: the Consul General gave a speech after several interventions by Lieutenant-General Elisabeth Dowesdell, Toronto mayor John Tory, and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.
